Turning doodles of animals
into a thriving e-commerce brand.

When I’m in a boring meeting, I like to draw doodles of animals in meetings in order to appear to be taking notes. Post-meeting, I usually show them to a co-worker or two, which always brings on a chuckle.

One day I thought to myself, "I should put these doodles on shirts."  So I did.  And thus was born Lo-Fi Animal Shirts.

And since I recently lost both my father to cancer, I thought I’d use the whole idea to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Thus far I’ve sold over $150,000 worth of tee shirts, hoodies, mugs and other stuff, and donated $7,500 to the American Cancer Society.

After focusing on brand TV most of my career, creating Lo-fi Animal Shirts has been an invaluable hands-on crash course in e-commerce, performance marketing and analytics. Not to mention AI image creation. It’s come a long way from just doodles, and the experience has shifted my approach to everything marketing related.
