Telling jokes to drunken strangers at 2AM.
Back in 2015, I thought I’d try taking a standup comedy class at NYC’s Comedy Cellar.. Next thing I knew I was performing a few times a week in Greenwich Village and having an absolute blast doing it.
Through the experience, I learned an incredible amount, met some incredible people, and became much more confident in social situations and in presenting myself onstage. Not to mention honing my comedy writing chops.
I wrote this article for Adweek about what standup comedians could teach the advertising industry about presentation skills. After all, there’s no tougher audience than a bunch of drunken strangers at 3am. Or is there?
Finely Crafted Cocktails & Comedy
When I moved back to Atlanta in 2017, I teamed up with fellow ex-Boulderite and comedian Amy Brown to start our own n comedy show at Old 4th Distillery: Finely Crafted: Cocktails & Comedy.
During our run of over four years, we did hundreds of shows, sold thousands of tickets, had a few celebrity drop-ins, and got to host some terrific local comics just before they blew up nationally.
We also did several charity shows, and raised $1100 for the N.A.A.C.P. with an online show during the pandemic.
